I have a 8gb Nexus given to me as a present so I'm not complaining. I have to be careful with my storage, last night I went through the apps and deleted all the cached data and released about half a GB of storage. My question is what does the Cache do? I'm assuming it is just a record of what I've done in each app but when I go back to the apps nothing appears to have changed, the games have kept my highest scores etc, I'm just a bit confused - not an unusual thing:). Can anyone tell me what the cache is for please.

yes, that's right. cache is regularly used data stored to make the app load quicker later.

here is a good guide to manage storage on 8 Gb Nexus 7. in this guide you will also find details about cache http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...ide-managing-storage-space-8gb-nexus-7-a.html

does cache data from deleted apps instantly/eventually get deleted, or is there ghost data lying around from apps you no longer have on your device?
