Does the Epic have a calendar app similar to the one that was on the Hero where it will put your next appt on your home page?

you can use the stock calendar widget and it shows your next calendar event

Smooth Calendar is free in the market and looks much better than the stock widget IMHO. Check it out.

Plenty of nice free calendar widgets in the market. If you use something other than touchwiz launcher, you can scroll with many of them (awesome!)
