Calendar invite issues

I can't seem to find a solution to this issue.

My GF sends me invites using her S4. For some reason i don't get them. They do show up on S planer but i have to go to the date click on them and accept.
Isn't there a notification or something that should tell me i have a calendar invite?
If it helps both calendars are Gmail

Thanks i had that done... i think it's my GF phone maybe that;s causing this issue
All other invites i get an email and could accept
