Calendar Without Google Login in Samsung Galaxy

I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy 3 mobile (model GT-i5801) but am highly disappointed with the Calendar. I am being forced to login to a Google account to set up the Calendar which I don't want to do since it costs me to connect to the internet. Is there some other way by which I can open/set up Calendar in the mobile without having to connect to my Google account? If not, are there any other Calendar applications which I can install in my mobile (which will have all the Calendar functions like scheduler etc.)?

Never ever have I come across a mobile which forces users to connect to the net just to set up a basic application like calendar.....very irritating....

Try Jorte, I believe it has a native Jorte mode. I don't personally like it but lots of people do, you could also try Gemini which I like a lot, it may work fine using the Android db.
