Calendar won't stop syncing with google

This is making me crazy. I set up my S5 under my google account, so it naturally connected to all my google stuff. I then also set up the S5 calendar to connect with my outlook account at work. Under Calendars>Accounts I have all google calendars unchecked, and I have only the checkbox for my outlook account checked. Yet when I add an appointment to the calendar on my phone, it syncs the appointment with my default google calendar instead of my outlook, even though the only calendar checked in the list of calendars to sync is the outlook calendar. What the heck?

So is there a way to fix this syncing issue so it syncs with only outlook, or is there a free calendar app out there that is more outlook friendly?
