Is there a way to turn off ringer with the exception of certain people. Im about to start working nights and sleeping in the morning. I dont want my phone to ring while i am sleeping unless my wife or daycare calls. is this possible?

Look in the market for an app called Auto Ring. It will do exactly what you want by adding people to a whitelist.
