Call issues

Unless I have headphones plugged in or bluetooth on, I cannot hear anything on calls nor can the person on the other end hear me. No issues if one of those two are in place. Putting call on speaker does not work either. When I play messages from visual voicemail, I can hear them no problem without headphones or bluetooth. Not on Airplane Mode, bluetooth turned off. Tried starting in safe mode. Tried reseating sim card. Tried restarting regularly. Tried reseating battery and restarting. Galaxy Note 4. Just started problem today. Appreciate any help. Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! I wonder if the headphone jack might be faulty, and reporting that a headset is always plugged in. That would prevent calls from ever going through the primary earpiece (but I think would still let a Bluetooth headset to connect). Try using SoundAbout to see if you can route the call through the primary earpiece.

Thanks B Diddy, but no dice with Sound About. The rub here is Visual Voicemail is playing through the earpiece. So Im wondering if maybe some sort of setting has gotten messed up. Factory reset? Ugh.

Have you also tried a cache partition wipe? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28932

No luck. Same symptoms after the partition wipe.

Hmm. Considering that it happens in Safe Mode, I'm guessing it's either a hardware issue or possibly corruption of the firmware. You could try reinstalling the firmware using Smart Switch (SmartSwitch: Install & update or replace firmware) or Odin (http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html).
