Call Log for Recent Calls shows only those on my Contacts list

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and the Call Log for Recent Calls shows only those on my Contacts list except those placed today. I had about 10 calls yesterday from people not in my Contacts that aren't on my call log & one was a potential customer & I had to go to the Verizon website to find the number in my detailed usage. I have it set to display All Calls, but that's not working. My phone is not rooted. It updates on its own, last update was maybe a month ago.
