Call Recorder that works on the Atrix?

Rred, wow, you sure are forceful in your objections. You do realize that recording a call illegally is wiretapping don't you? I don't know why you seem to think that just because you are a party to a call it is legal. In 11 states it is not. If you did so in those states you would be guilty of illegal wiretapping. Under Federal law it is legal to record a call if one person knows the call is being recorder EXCEPT " such communication is intercepted for the purpose of committing any criminal or tortious act.." Recording a call is intercepting it. Before you respond I should tell you that I am a retired law enforcement officer with 30 years experience and really do know what I'm talking about. I still believe any discussion about recording calls should also discuss the legal ramifications.

TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 119 > ? 2511
(d) It shall not be unlawful under this chapter for a person not acting under color of law to intercept a wire, oral, or electronic communication where such person is a party to the communication or where one of the parties to the communication has given prior consent to such interception unless such communication is intercepted for the purpose of committing any criminal or tortious act in violation of the Constitution or laws of the United States or of any State.

How about, I don't give a damnabout that train of thought. FOCUS HERE.

We're talking about the legal and federally UNREGULATED recording of calls by the person who OWNS the phone while THEY THEMSELF are using THEIR OWN PHONE.

Focus on that. We're not talking about bugging phones, wiretapping phones, planting spyware on kids or spouses or officemates, we're talking about the simple TECHNICAL NOT LEGAL issue of whether software exists for these phones.

And yes, I am damned tired of telling people to FOCUS ON THE ISSUE.

This is not the ADD or ADHD Forum. FOCUS, PLEASE, ON THE ISSUE.

FOCUS.

fwiw ~ my moto k1 accidentally records conversations all the time. it's just an old skool dumb phone, not smart enough to read 'US code' or any other legal mumbojumbo. plus, it will not play hd games, nor pinpoint my location.

but, it will, and does, record calls.

alas, this post is unfocused, despite the demands of the op.

bite me

You just don't get it. Owning a phone does not render moot Federal and State laws regarding wire tapping. If you use your OWN phone to record a conversation in Florida and the other person is not aware of the recording you have violated the wiretapping laws of the State of Florida. If you record a conversation on your OWN phone for criminal purposes you have violated Federal wiretapping laws. If you are in a state that allows one party consent to record a call and you record someone unbeknownst to them in a state that requires two party consent you have violated the laws of that state.

I dont know much about that stuff because I dont have a need or a want to record my calls with other people. Unless I was a bill collector. But for a person to get rude that way and act like that, is to far. Ill get out of this thread because I dont need to put myself that low and get to that point. Its the internet, and all you and I see is text. This community dont need to be this way.
Recording is helpful when getting directions, etc. All my old PalmOS devices had apps that could/would record incoming and/or outgoing calls, compress the files and save them in folders.

It's also great in many businesses when talking to clients and being able to review phone conversations, to ensure nothing is missed or forgotten. ...as well as, making voice memos to oneself on the fly (esp. in the car while driving)

I really missed the feature when moving to webOS, and was hoping Android had some good apps available (picking up a Motorola Photon at the end of the month), hoping something "fits the bill"

The programs dont work because its not legal to record conversations between both parties at the same time. You would have to let the other person know you are recording the call. Ive herd of some apps that do that, but none of those were found reliable.

I see this misinformation often. THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE.

Depending on what country - and in the case of the United States, what State you are in - no notification is required as long as one party (the person doing the recording) is aware.

A quick internet search of phone call recording laws (+where you live) will net you the proper, authoratative legal information to inform you of how to proceed.
