call screen too dim

Does anyone have trouble when receiving a call outdoors? My normal screen is fine and easy to see, but when I get a call, it is too dim to see who is calling.

Do you actually see the screen look normal for a moment in the call screen, then dim? Or is the call screen always dim?

Is anything covering or blocking the proximity or ambient light sensor (right near the front-facing camera)?

I think it is always dim. Nothing seems to be covered, as a matter of fact, I just held my thumb aboove the sensor while inside, and the screen began to dim, so that seems correct.

That's pretty strange--hopefully someone with that phone can chime in here. In the meantime, see if it happens in Safe Mode, in case it's being caused by a 3rd party app: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-11856. If that doesn't work, then try wiping the cache partition: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-11663 (I think these steps will work on the Z5 Compact, but am not certain.)
