Call volume only works via speaker on Samsung A3

A few days ago during a call I was no longer able to hear the call but the person I called could still hear me.

Since then I have determined the following. The speakers work fine I can play and hear anything and can make or receive calls providing I put the call to the speaker. I can also hear calls if I use headphones.

I have researched as much as possible but have yet to find a solution. Does anyone know what the solution could be?

Can you hear anything through the earpiece speaker any more, or do you always have to turn on speakerphone? If the latter, then the earpiece speaker is probably faulty. Make sure the earpiece speaker opening isn't clogged with debris.

I can hear nothing through the earpiece speaker I always have to turn on speakerphone. It's difficult to see how the opening could be clogged as it is not a single opening it is a grid of 15 small holes. It does look like the speaker is faulty and as the phone does not easily come apart it looks like a job for the shop, or to put up with speakerphone. The phone is 2 years old which is a lifetime for a phone lol.

Yeah, sorry -- it sounds like the speaker would have to be replaced, if you want to use it.

Just to be sure -- does the problem persist in Safe Mode? How do I use Safe Mode on my Galaxy A3?

I checked it in safe mode and the problem still exists.

Yeah, sorry -- bring it to a repair shop if you want to use the earpiece speaker.
