call volume went waaay low.

I don't know what triggered it, but I tried to take a call on my D2G on Friday and could barely make-out what the person was saying, despite having the volume turned up to the max.

I tried this yesterday (Sat) as well, and asked someone else to listen, in case it was "just me", but they confirmed that it was borderline impossible to hear anything. I even tried to put it on "speaker", but that didn't seem to increase the volume at all (I was almost more shocked about that).

Without having anyplace else to go, I tried rebooting the phone and that helped a lot (I think it could still be a little louder, but it's now back in the range of "acceptable").

Does anyone know what could've triggered the problem and any resolution (other than rebooting the entire phone)? I do connect it up to my BT system in my car occasionally, and that works perfectly, but that should be a different volume and I should have been able to adjust my call volume the "normal way" when not connected to handsfree.

Thanks in advance for any ideas, tips, tricks, apps, etc,
AJ

1) when in a call try the volume up button.
2) Also search around in the settings>sound>call settings.
3) Lastly download an app called "volume control +" it gives you control of certain volume controls that are hidden from the settings. that will likely fix the problem.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I tried #1 a bunch. Told the person OTP to hold on, and made sure I was hitting the + and looked at the display -- said I was at vol max.

I didn't really try #2. I guess I assumed I was toggling the right volume with #1.

Thanks for the pointer on #3. Will go check that out today.

Did you solve this?

My wifes phone has been doing the same thing. Got a new phone and it also happened. I am wondering if there is an app causing this!

Happens to me too, any chance you all are using a Dock ?
That is the only time I notice it after removing it from the dock .

I do use the moto dock to charge at night (the dock app shows a decent clock all night and has some features I could probably make use of). But it doesn't happen all the time, just once or twice, and rebooting solved it (but I'm going to d/l this app Cory recommended anyway).

Side note (not to hijack or anything) : Does anyone think I'll significantly shorten the life of the display by having it lit-up in the multimedia dock all night, every night? I mean, I'm sure I'll be on to my next phone in under 2yrs, so that's my "requirement".

That is exactly the same problem I have , it has happened maybe 3 times and only a reboot corrects it.

I had the same thing happen to me, but it was a super small piece of plastic that somehow slipped from the protective screen cover into the speaker. I went to my verizon store and they used the air in the can and blew it and sure enough it blew right out. problem fixed. Let me tell you I was really worried as I've only had the phone for a month.

I don't think you'll significantly shorten the life of your display that much. But if you're like me and hate motorola's docks (multimedia and car) and would prefer the stock android docks. I'll post them up for you.

Pro-Motorola Docks:
MMD: Looks good, customizable, widget support
CD: larger buttons than stock google (easier to touch in a bouncy truck), custom google maps with MPH overlay skin, live compass icon

Con-Motorola Docks:
MMD: terrible nighttime mode (brightness is to low), Static clock (no motion, more likely to damage the screen)
CD: GPS always on, color scheme, only one page, only one customizable icon.

I haven't seen the volume thing and I typically dock the phone all night in the Moto multimedia dock.

Hey Cory -- I also have the multimedia dock and deal with the Moto dock screen. I'm curious what the Google desktop dock looks like and how'd I use your downloads. Can you pop up a screen shot of each when you get a chance and give me a clue what to do with the files?

Thanks.

Have had the exact same issue since late last week. Call volume is all the way up. It doesn't help to put it on speaker phone (it's like it doesn't actually switch to speaker).

I don't use a dock at all.

Wondering if given the timing if we all happened upon a similar app (free app of the day?) that may be causing issues?

Like others, a reboot seems to have resolved the issue (at least temporarily).
