I have my phone set to "ring only" under the phone app, but every call that comes in or goes out, the phone says "Verizon wireless" before it rings or before it calls out. Is there anyway to get rid of it saying "Verizon wireless"? It just erks me...

Also if I disable the phone app, and replace with another dialer app (like rocket dialer) will there be any ill consequences to this disabling?

Tap your phone icon. At the bottom right you should see 3 little dots. Press on the dots for settings, scroll down, select "Caller ID Readout"...choose "ringer only".

I have it on ring only. I did finally find that in the phone app...

If I put it in read name, it reads the name than still says Verizon wireless after the name.....

Is pretty annoying.

Settings, sound, play sound on call connect, or roaming tone, disable those, then re enable your cid readout

Jfreind...

Thanks that did the trick... It was the damn roaming tone... Unchecked and that stupid Verizon wireless is long gone..

Anybody know if it's bad to disable the stock phone app?

Does anyone know how to make it display the city when someone calls you don't have in your address book? My gnex did this automatically.

Motorola doesn't do this by default. I use an application called Current Caller ID by White Pages and it says the city, caller name (even when not in phone book), etc. Its basically just like a home caller ID.

My phone displays caller ID already like a home phone.

After a call to verizon explaining to them the cid app was disabled, I couldn't get a straight answer.

I know usually you get a short trial period but mine still works.

If it ever stops I'll install Mr number.

Verizon offers a service for around $3 a month that does that. If I don't use that app then it doesn't work as a home caller ID.

I had the rep verify I wasn't being charged a monthly fee. She confirmed that I was not. The caller ID app is disabled. It was strange at first to see the name and number come up but I have began to like it. I hope it doesn't suddenly stop working!
