Calls automatically go to voicemail even when I don't want them to. Please help!

I tried using a LAN line phone to call my HTC evo v. I wanted to see how the contact photo showed up when they call me but the call automatically went to voicemail. I haven't changed any settings to make it do that because I don't know how. Please help!
