Camcorder issues in froyo and now GB

I was on rooted official froyo until last night then i moved to rooted official GB last night. This is my issue.

My camcorder app will open and record like nothing is wrong. Then when I finish recording and hit stop that is when the trouble starts.

In froyo, there would be no preview image and it would say that the file was unplayable when I tried to play it. This happened 95% of the time. The longer videos seemed to have a higher fail rate.

On GB, i have only tested with one recording. 55sec long, it has a thumbnail and will play, but only 10sec before a an error in playback occurs.

EDIT: after reading hkklife's info I thought I should post that I am using the SD card that came with the device (the larger one from initial launch)

Any ideas or suggestions? I tried searching the forums and only really saw the camcorder shutting down issue.

Thank you in advanced

I can definitely confirm this. In fact, .596 appears to be doing worse with regards to video recording and playback than any of the older leaked GB builds. I recorded 4 separate 720p videos last night. The shortest was about 30 seconds long and the longest was about 3 minutes long.

2 of them were fine but the 2 longest ones have major issues. One is 84Mb or so in size but do not sow the thumbnail image (just the black playback icon). The other shows the thumbnail properly but crashes about 15 seconds into the video, using both the stock video player and Doubletwist.

Additionally, afifth video I attempted to record shows the video as recording but it appears that nothing was actually written to the microSD card ( a 32gb Sandisk Class 2 that has performed flawlessly in the past on this same phone). It looks like there is some wacky on behavior with the onscreen red record button.

Yesterday I also experienced the camcorder shutting down bug and more heat than usual after recording video (though this could be partially attributed to the phone struggling to hold onto a 3G signal in the building I was in). So far I must confess to being less-than-impressed with this "official" GB build.
