Camera and speakerphone

All,

Very interested in upgrading to the Nexus but I'm worried about two things that have been very important to me.

How would you all judge the quality of the camera and the speakerphone on this phone?

I am stock and unrooted so take it as you'd like. Love the camera when you take pictures outside. For the life of me I can not take a decent picture inside whether I use stock camera, camera zoom, etc. I still have no idea why this phone didn't have an 8MP camera. (I know some will say the amount of MPs doesn't matter but I've yet to see a 5MP camera take a better picture than an 8MP.)
Also, people recommend Volume+ for the speaker. I notice no real difference. I can barely hear it ring, especially when it's in my pocket. Audio quality just decent at best when listening minus headphones.
My 2 cents- if these 2 were most important to me, knowing now what I know, I would pass on it, but I'm sure some will have better advice about improvements with roms, etc.
