Camera app constantly crashing on 2XL

Anyone else experiencing frequent camera crashes on the 2XL? Take a picture, phone locks up, or screen goes blank, won't pull back up for several minutes. Similar issues editing photos, try to do a crop and the phone just sits there and says "Loading" for minutes on end. I have to shut down the app or in extreme cases shut down my phone. This happens about 50% of the time when I use my camera.

I'm hoping 8.0.1 will fix this if I ever get the freaking update.

I can't really run the phone in safe mode all the time. I haven't tried. Since it's not consistent or 100% of the time not sure what a safe mode test would tell us.

Safe Mode could tell you if the problem is from an app you installed vs something with the system. You're right, it can be tedious if the problem doesn't occur constantly -- but since you say it happens about 50% of the time when using the camera, it still may be worth running it in Safe Mode for the better part of a day, testing the camera the whole time. If it never crashes, then I'd suspect some 3rd party app is causing the instability. Unfortunately, there's no good way to narrow it further, so you'd have to uninstall apps one by one until the problem goes away. It would make sense to uninstall the most recently installed apps first.

Early on, I had Google Photos crashing all the time (and no one else did apparently). I ended up just factory resetting it and that fixed it. It's a pain to have to set up everything again, but in the end it was worth it for me.

Do you send Google a report when this happens so they can determine and correct the issue

It's only given me the option to send a report twice, the rest of the time it gets hung up indefinitely and never gives me that ability. Sunday I gave it 5 full minutes of sitting there spinning doing nothing...
