Camera App Issues

Recently over the past few weeks I have been noticing some weird issues with the stock camera app for my EVO. When I go to take a picture instead of taking it it closes the app. I have killed all other running processes and it still does it. This happens no matter what the battery level is. I have had it happen on a full charge, half charge and close to dead charge. The only way to resolve the issue is to reboot the phone and on average this happens every other time I go to use the camera. Anyone know if it is the camera itself that is failing or just the app? And if it is just the app should I simply restore my phone back to factory settings and start fresh? Thanks in advance for the help.

starting fresh is always the first step in triage, other than clearing the data under manage applications. Try a wipe and see what happens, if it still happens then you know more than likely its the module itself
