I noticed that the camera app settings don't mention numeric resolutions anymore.
Camera options are "full resolution" and "medium resolution." No numbers.
My question, though is about the way it does 4:3 and 16:9. I shoot a lot in wide format. That always meant lower resolution according to the camera settings - it would literally show the numbers. I didn't care, did it anyway.
The Pixel 4 camera calls it "wide crop" and gives no numbers. Is that just a different way to label what it's always been? Curious.
