camera app suggestions?

Hi, I've always had a problem with distortion of photos of people when using the rear camera. If there's more than one person, or if the person isn't totally centered, the faces are stretched. I've read lots of posts and it seems that it's probably because the rear camera is better for scenic shots. I haven't figured out how to correct this in the camera settings. Is there maybe a camera app that could fix this? Or does anyone have tips I could try?
Thanks!

That's almost certainly the lens or the sensor, which would mean a camera module replacement. GIMP has the tools to "squash" things, but a) it runs on a PC and b) it's not "click and you're done", it's manipulate the picture, almost pixel by pixel. (Photoshop is also good, but far from free.) Paint.net (that's the name, it's not a URL) can do some manipulation, but I don't think it can do enough to compensate for stretched pictures.

As for an app that would do it in the phone, there are a lot of photo manipulation apps, but I don't think any of them has the power to do what you need.

Thanks for the response, Rukbat! If it has to do with replacements, I don't know if it's worth it. Maybe it's time for me to upgrade my phone, even though I would have liked to stick with this one a while longer. :/

How far from the center of the frame are the distorted faces? Wider-angle lenses can suffer from more barrel distortion towards the edges. If it happens near the edge of the frame, then there's not much you can do about that. But if it's near the center of the frame, I agree with Rukbat, that may be more of a defect.

Unfortunately, the distortion is around the edges. I guess when I upgrade, I'll look for a phone that offers different options for rear facing cameras.
Thanks for the response!

The front-facing camera of the Pixel 2 XL has the same issue -- a number of my selfies with my wife and daughter end up distorting my daughter's face, since she's usually near the bottom of the frame. No problem now with the 3 XL and its wide-angle selfie lens!:)
