Hello everybody,

My camera app updated last night and it changed the icon; and I wanted to ask you if this is normal or should I proceed with a soft reset.

Here's the screenshot:

thanks in advance!

Are you using any launchers or themes? Or by any chance is your phone Telcel-branded? That looks an awful lot like Telcel's icon set.

I am not using any launcher, and it is factory unlocked. I was just multitasking last night (music + facebook + whatsapp + pinterest) and it just updated. Saw the update in the notification bar.

If a reboot doesn't fix it you can edit the icon and just change it back to the default.

Is it possible to be a real update? My friend bought another HTC One the same day on the same store, and his Camera App version says: 5.0.598226. Mine says: 5.0.636939

Where did the update come from? Pushed by your carrier I am assuming?

I don't think it was from my carrier, the cellphone is not sold by any carrier here. I had to buy it unlocked.

Updates are rolled out gradually, that means that not every user gets the update at the same time. I remember seeing that icon for my camera but that was on a Gingerbread Galaxy SII.

android 4.1.2, Htc Sense 5.0; Software version: 1.36.599.1; API SDK: 5.12; Kernel: 3.4.10-g06cea70, root@abm016#1, SMP PREEMPT

That's all the info I have in the phone

Does your app drawer show the exact same camera icon?

I just noticed, this is the same icon I have in my S4's lockscreen... So this looks more and more like it's a TouchWiz icon... How did it end up in your HTC One? o_O

You could try uninstalling updates and try to update again, but don't know if the App Manager will give you that option for this specific app since it's a system one.

Yep. New one on me. If you check settings>apps>all and then scroll down to camera is the icon the same? If so...then that would appear to be your real new icon.

Is the same icon everywhere. The app works perfectly.
But what causes me more concern or doubt is the fact that my friends One has not updated and the app version is different.

It is weird. Imagine my surprise when I saw the icon. I cannot change the icon in the App Manager.
And, how should I uninstall the updates?

thanks

Not all apps let you do this, but if it does, it would be in Settings, App Manager, "All" tab and going into the Camera app. Inside there should be an 'UNINSTALL UPDATES' button, which would revert the app back to the factory-loaded version.

Not possible. Well, should I make a soft reset? If you think I should, how do I do it?
Thanks in advance for the help

It's time to back up everything you have on that phone and ensure you did it correctly.
Also, do you have a way of preventing the update from happening again, assuming this soft reset works?

I don't have any way to stop it, I think.

Right now, I will use the app like it is. I checked the app version on other 3 One's and mine is the only different. I will give it a week, and meanwhile I will send an error report to HTC to see what happens.

Thanks!
