There are a million camera threads, so not looking for app reviews/opionions, but seeing if anyone has tried the top paid camera apps ON THE PHOTON and noticed any results or quirks specific to the Photon and this hardware with the apps. For only a few bucks I skip the free apps and figure you should "invest" in a paid camera app to replace the stock camera. Specifically I'm comparing Vignette and Camera Zoom FX. It used to be a 3-way race with Camera 360 in the mix, but many complaining about security/privacy issues lately with that one.

Anyone out there try these apps on your Photon?

I have vignette. Its a very nice app. You get some nice features with it. Only issue is its slow. Takes a minute to process the picture. Pic say pro is an awesome editor app as well.

I second the recommend for Vignette. Hard to set it up to show in the Gallery so far, though. Only spent a few minutes with it.

24 hours of playing and picture quality between all three apps AND the stock phone seems like a dead heat LOL So much for exhaustive testing :) Vignette has a ton of featues, but not sure if I can get past the way they do zoom with the crop box instead of a natural "live" zoom.

Back to testing :)

I am not impressed at all by the stock camera. Pictures look horrid. I used the vignette demo for all of 3 min and bought the paid version. I just needed a camera app that would make basic pics look great. All the other apps have more going on than my needs require.

Pics with the stock (normal) settings all seem about the same between the shipped camera, Vignette, Camera 360 and Zoom FX.

The others add a lot of features, scenes, effects, framing and editing so worth having. I like the Vignette UI but don't think I can get past that the zoom isn't live, but a crop box. Camera 360 has some nice features, but the translation is horrible. Takes some nice pics with effects though. Another negative is that it doesn't fill the whole screen in preview. Zoom FX also has a ton of extras, not sure if I like the UI yet though.

So after two days of playing...still a toss-up.

Anyone else trying anything with the Photon camera and have feedback?

I tried Vignette, too. Made a big difference on my Evo, but on the Photon, not so much. Couldn't see a difference.

I have a love/hate with the camera, as well as the display.
