Camera Auto Focus dead?

Hello,
I recently found out that my camera's autofocus feature is not working, I point at anything, anywhere, any light, and it's just static, it doesn't try to focus on anything.

It won't work on any mode (auto, macro, sport, etc)
It's not making the regular focus robotic sound. "AE and AF Lock" is off.
I haven'd done any upgrades or anything out of the normal.

Has anyone had this problem? Is there a way to fix it?

Static? Is there any image at all? If only the autofocus were damaged, you should still see an image--it'd just be blurry, especially up close (far shots would probably be in focus). If you're seeing static, I'd suspect the whole camera is faulty.

Not that kind of static, I meant that there is no change unlike before, where it tried to refocus whenever I aimed elsewhere.
There is an image, an unfocused image.

Oh I see. Yeah, it's probably a faulty autofocus mechanism (which is one of the only moving parts in a phone, besides the vibration motor). The only way to fix it would be to replace the whole camera module, I think. I suppose you could try rapping firmly on the phone with your hand a couple of times, in case something is stuck.
