Is anyone aware of an app that lets you assign a custom file name when you take a photo? For example I use my phone for structural inspections and would like to include in the file name some info on what I am taking a photo of just after I take the photo. Thanks!

Two Suggestions:

1. You can rename the file ( no need for an app).
2. Use "Note Everything" which allows you to take photos and a section for notes. (I would use this in your case). ***Combines photo & notes in 1 file.

Thanks, that seems like a great app and might work for me. But is there an app that will change the file names?

You do not need an app to change file names. You do not mention what phone you have, but it should be similar to my Droid X.

Apps>Files>Phone files>DCIM>Camera>Locate Photo you want to rename> Long press>rename

I'm not sure about your phone but here's how I do it on my Inc2.

1) Take picture and wait for preview to time out.
2) Tap the very left icon (A white square with a solid white square behind it). Will take you to the last picture you just took.
3)press the menu button and choose details. At the top you should see the default file name. Tap that and you should be able to change the name.
4) tap ok to save the change.
