Camera difference between OP6T and S9+?

I'm torn between the OP6T and the S9+. The deal breaker for me is the camera. I have 2 kids who I take pictures and videos of and I want to make sure I get great images. Is the OP6T's camera good for action shots (with a lot of fast movement), compared to the S9+'s?

I just picked up a 6T yesterday (typing on it now). Coming from a Pixel 2 which takes fantastic pictures this is also a concern of mine as well also having kids.

I'll try to take some shots today test today and let you know what I think. I got one that moves pretty fast lol.

See at around 6'30" in...

Bear in mind that the 6T has just received an, "optimised image processing", fix in update 9.0.6.

I watched that video. Unfortunately, like most reviewers, he says nothing about action shots....fast moving objects, bicycles, kids running around etc. etc. I believe the 6T would be good enough (for me) for posed photos, but quickly taken shots of my kids in action, I'm not so sure about.

How you like it so far?
It's big lol. This is not a one handed device. I'm kind of struggling to adjust to typing on it honestly but it's only been a day and it's slowly getting better. I had all that chin/bezel on the Pixel 2 so I didn't have to reach as far down. Jumped into the OP gestures right away and haven't had any issue adjusting to them like I did the Google ones on the Pixels, they never felt natural and these are quickly becoming muscle memory.

I have had touch response issues on three different Pixel 2 devices including the one I was using till yesterday. The touch response on this is great and the haptics feel good to me. All the little touches in the software that have always bugged me in every other version of Android including the Pixel version like the brightness slider at the bottom of the quick settings where you can easily or the clear all button being right at the bottom of the recent apps instead of making me swipe all the way to the end are so good. There's a ton of thoughtful things that make it so much more user friendly that the Pixel just doesn't have.

As for the camera, it's not as good, the detail isn't there like a Pixel but you only notice if you are zooming in to look at the pixels. It definitely smooths over a little more to but it is what it is. Does it take good pictures with accurate color and show the people or objects well? Yep. It's probably as good as my S7 was, maybe a little better. We'll see. I'll try to take some more shots tomorrow.

Glad your liking it 😊
I think there's a port of the pixel3 camera to the 1+6 maybe in xda with good results

1+6/T are very good device that won't break the bank. Still think its the fastest device I ever owned.
This thing absolutely flies and the battery life is incredible so far. I debated pretty hard the last few days between the 6T and the V40 after the V40's recent price drop but in the end between the price and everything I had read about Oxygen OS I just had to try an OP device.

Oxygen OS is something special and battery on my 1+6 is still strong

It is. Good to hear your battery is going strong still, that makes me feel good this thing will last awhile. I'm at 48% with 3.5 hrs SOT. I can't recall ever getting over 4 with any phone on my usage so this looks promising. With those numbers I could hit close to 7 which is crazy to me.
