Camera drained my battery

Used my camera for the first time ever yesterday for about 30 mins. When I picked up my phone this morning there is hardly any battery left 8%. I went into the battery settings and the camera app has been keeping my phone awake for over 15 hours! I went into the recent apps screen and closed the camera app. Surely I don't have to close the camera app down like this every time I use it?

Please help.

It sounds like it might be the mm-qcamera-daemon bug, which was supposed to be fixed in Lollipop. But there are still some posts about it, so it hasn't been completely eradicated. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what the best solution for this is. If you search for that term, you'll find a lot of results, but not many solutions.:-\
