It's a rule of thumb never to use flash on your phone camera, but have you tried it with the v20? I'm actually very surprised and pleased.. It works pretty darn well.

Wow. That's pretty impressive for camera flash on a phone. I also avoid flash on phones as it normally looks awful. These images look much closer to what is expect from a point and shoot camera with a standard xenon flash

It was a pleasant surprise the other night when I was on a date with my wife.. I will definitely keep using it now.

I've been impressed with it too, but I'm surprised it is a dual white instead of one white and one amber LED flash. My G4 had the dual color flash, which helped get more accurate skin tones.

My wife's G5 has the amber flash. It's cool, but this one sure is brighter.

I've never heard of that rule.... Sometimes it's necessary
with photography in general, on camera flashes tend to be harsh and not very flattering without some sort of modification (changing the flash direction, diffusing, etc). With phones and their relatively weak flash, it's only effective up close, making those issues worse. Sure, it's sometimes necessary, but best to avoid it if possible.

I understand all that. I own 7 DSLRS and several point and shoots. I just you can get away with not using it that often. I hate most flash photography, especially when you get those demonic red eye pictures or that closed eye look.

I've been able to not use it since the launch of the EVO 4G. Usually I would find some well lit areas.. I mean I would try it with all my new phones just to see how it is, but never used it in real life situations.
