Anyone have a problem with the camera locking up the phone? Half the time I hit the camera icon it just sits there until I hit the power button, then it restarts the phone.

For the first time yesterday the camera wouldn't come on. It said something about an error and could not connect to the camera.

My camera app was giving me an error message too and wouldn't open. I attempted to reboot my phone to see if it would fix the problem. I wasn't able to power the phone back up. I am now on my 2nd GNex.

twice i have hit the stock camera app and it has frozen and restarted my phone. I have not had this error message though, and thankfully my phone hasnt bricked because of it.

Mine does that on occasion and I just reboot it. Im used to the cameras freezing occasionally with all my Android phones. Seems to just be an android thing.

I've noticed a time or two..... If I unlock my phone by swiping to the left to activate the camera... but then hit the home button before the camera actually loads, the next time i try to use the camera, it will give me that message until I reboot.

this happened to me yesterday for the first time. But I'm starting to see a lot of different things force a reboot on this phone. starting to get frustrated.

I'm not positive, but it think I remember reading about a known bug where if you let the phone go into sleep mode when the camera was open, it would sometimes cause this.

I wonder if it's something that can be fixed with a software patch? With so many people having the issue, is there a place to report issues?

I have also experienced my camera app randomly crashing, unable to open, with the same error message a reported. I never thought much of it as a simple reboot cleared the error.

And then on Saturday I took a trip to the bainbridge islandy west of seattle. I tried to use my camera extensively, but it kept crashing. I would open the camera app, use it and then turn off my screen, and then moments later when I go to turn it on again the camera have crashed. A few times it took multiple reboots before the camera would work again.

When I got back into Seattle the camera app working again no problem. While I was on the islands, I noticed I did not have any data connection at all. There seemed to be a problem with my phone getting on 3g, because my wife's phone had no issues with data. Maybe a problem with the handshake between 4g and 3g? Interestingly both problems went away when I was back in Seattle where the 4g data coverage is excellent, so it makes me think that the camera has a bug related to data connection.

This trip was a serious test of my phone's capabilities, and while not totally disappointed, the camera performance and data stability has me concerned. I honestly don't know if I should exchange my phone for another one or pin my hopes on a software fix...

Some of these issues bother me, however I haven't experienced any of them (knock on wood) in this thread nor any other.

I also have been considering rooting my phone, which makes me want to ask of all of you experiencing this issue whether or not your phones are rooted. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it anyway.

Google how can I report an android bug and you'll find a link to a Google bug reporting site.
