Camera stretches Instagram pictures?

Sorry for my posts, I'm just new to this phone and I dont know where else or who else to go to.

I just tried taking a picture with my dog and upload it to Instagram. I was using the front facing camera and when I take the picture, it looks considerably stretched from top to bottom, my face and my dogs head looks longer then normal...

is this something I'd have to get used to with the camera? or...

Only used the front facing cam 3 or 4 times but they all turned out good. Does the picture look good before it uploads?

when you first take the picture when its in editing mode on instagram, its stretched; elongated. BUT when I uploaded it, it went back to normal

Is it around the corners that's stretched? I had that problem but that's how it is when you have the camera mode set to "wide." I set mine to "normal" and it no longer makes things look larger.
