Camera update - differences?

New to the essential phone. A secondary device for business and second to my amazing keyone.

I just updated the essential camera and as a new user I feel that it has slightly increased in shutter speed and it seems like the low light images are slightly better. Is it my imagination?

Thoughts on the update? Can we expect even more?

Faster shutter speed with the same lens and the same sensor means darker pictures. It's simple arithmetic. Lower light, without changing the lens or the sensor, means a longer shutter opening time.

Yes. I worded it incorrectly. The processing of images seems faster and low light pictures seems a tiny bit better.

Essential updated its camera app today, which speeds up all camera modes.

I have the Google Camera on my Essential and I have updated the native camera app. While the native camera takes just fine photos, the Google camera takes them better.

I couldn't even begin to tell you, I wish I could. All I can say is it is version 5.2.019.188906351 v2.

I was over on Reddit and was reading a thread about it and someone posted a link with a ton of different versions of it from different people. In that thread, someone posted the version that they are using on their Essential that was working great so I downloaded that one and have been using it here and there.

They're potentially quite high if there are nasty people uploading on there.
I have the feeling the people doing such for a phone like the ph-1, would be genuine enthusiasts and geeks, who wouldn't have the desire to harm someone's device so I've taken the punt using the apks.

Having said that if you like being very cautious with this stuff it maybe isn't worth the risk. ??????

Also, having used the stock camera now again it is greatly improved. I shall post a couple pics into the photo thread I just took ??????

If the essential 2 is in the works I would imagine further extensive work will go into the camera to get rid of the bad rap so to speak. I am hoping that will lead to ongoing improvements in the original phone camera software too
