On camera, is there and where a 'best photo' setting that takes say 8 photos with one click so you can choose the best (eg, someone blinks)??

Just hold down the shutter button. It will shoot a burst of photos.

^ That works and I guess that makes the most sense, since you would not want a burst of say 8 photos takes every single time you press the shutter. So you can hold shutter down once or very short time for a landscape shot, And longer for a group people portrait shot.
