All of a sudden my Samsung Galaxy S4 has stopped saving any camera pictures to my sd card. The last camera pic that I was able to save to my sd was in early August and this issue popped up on 8/13. No new pictures will save but all of my old pictures are still available on the sd card. I can view the old pictures from the Gallery app on the phone or by connecting the phone to the computer and opening up the sd card and viewing that way.

I will take a picture on my phone and it will show briefly in the stock Gallery app before turning grey and then deleting automatically. The longest a new picture will remain available on the sd card is about 24 hours, but most of the time, it is gone within an hour.

So far, I have cleared cache and data on the Camera app and for the phone as a whole. I have also reset the camera app but nothing seems to work. Any idea of how to fix? Thanks.

Thanks for your earlier reply. I couldn't figure out how to respond with a follow up which is why I posted again and created a login. If the card is corrupt, wouldn't that mean that I shouldn't be able to view anything on the card when it is hooked up to the computer? All of the old stuff is there and I am still able to download music and pdf files to the sd card with no issue. It is only pictures that are affected when I try to save to the sd card.

That's OK, you passed the first test of working out how to sign up! It sounds weird that it only affects pictures. Have you tried this with pictures that you haven't taken using the camera eg a website download? It would still be worth checking out your card in Windows as you won't lose any data

I just tried downloading a picture from a website per your suggestion. It is viewable from the Gallery app and I have confirmed the picture is on the sd card. The fact that only pictures taken by the camera seem to be affected is what makes it so weird.

Also, I did save everything on my card to my computer last night just in case. It's just strange because occasionally a picture will save more than an hour so I set my camera to save on the sd card but 24 hours later the photo deletes. I can't keep saving pictures on my device storage but don't want to risk losing pictures if I keep it on sd storage.

Thank you for your suggestions and hopefully you can keep them coming.

I have already done that. I can take a picture with the Camera app and as long as settings say the pictures should be saved to device storage the picture stays available. Unfortunately, this takes up a lot of space on the device storage and isn't a permanent solution.

I tried taking pictures, saving them to device storage, and then moving to the sd card but they still delete as soon as they are moved to the card and off of device storage.
