Camera2 API Not Supported on Moto X Pure Edition

Re: I got my Moto X Pure Edition! (First Impressions)

I wonder if this is something that can change with Marshmallow or rooting.

How so? This ships with Lollipop. Camera2 API was introduced in Lollipop. I don't think they'll add it for Marshmallow.

You never know....weirder things have happened.

I realize it means carrying a second device. But there are quality point and shoot cameras with manual controls available that are smaller and cheaper than this phone. But then I am one of those odd folks who doesn't use my phone as my primary picture device.

Best camera is the one you are carrying with you. Most people won't carry a phone and a separate camera in regular day-to-day activities.

Bumping this thread since the Moto X Style release notes are out and they do not mention Camera2 API support.

Now that 24.11.18 (Marshmallow 6.0) is starting to roll out -

Camera2 API is definitely NOT included.
