Can’t get phone into recovery to flash

My family friend visits from India and has an Intex Aqua Lions T1 phone, bare in mind he’s pushing 60 years old and technologically numb.

He hands me the phone to give it an overhaul coz it’s freezing, so I go through the process of trying to get into the Android Recovery Menu, so I can flash it. But I’m failing, using the button combinations I get something called the “Spreadtrum Factory Test” menu

How do I flash the phone, basically need to give it a format and reinstall service

YOU DO NOT FORMAT AN ANDROID PHONE! Do that and you won't be able to flash anything. See this page for the flashing instructions. That's all you do to flash a new ROM.
