Can an encrypted phone update via OTA?

VZW HTC One m7 that I am considering encrypting but since L is coming down the pipeline, I want to make sure I can get that (eventual) OTA. Would encrypting my phone still allow me to receive the update when the time comes?

Device encryption has been available for awhile and is becoming default in Android L. Device encryption shouldn't interfere with OTA updates anymore than Bitlocker drive encryption interferes with Windows updates (it doesn't). They wouldn't make it default to on in Android L if it prevented them from updating the phone.
