Can an SD card for formatted as internal storage on a Nougat LG phone?

What I am looking to do is add storage to an Aristo 2 but it has to be internal storage. I have read conflicting views that it can and cannot be done.
Any help would be appreciated as I have an SD card arriving tomorrow.

LG, like some other manufacturers, tends to remove or hide the option for adoptable storage, though it may be possible to fix that with an ADB command. However, Nougat may cause further difficulties.

The option isn't there on my LG V20, which ran Nougat. Besides, it's not a recommended practice to format as adoptable storage anyway, for numerous reasons. If you insist on doing so, just make sure you have a very thorough backup system in place, as premature SD card corruption is a big possibility.

make sure you have a very thorough backup system in place, as premature SD card corruption is a big possibility.

And if the card gets corrupted, you'll have to do a factory reset, so back up everything but the apps that come with the phone.
