I have pretty much decided I do not like to run any os/rom on here but the out of box firmware. If i am gonna read with this I wanna use BN software from stock. But the thing is i want to repartition it too.

Yes, this can be done. I didn't debloat anything and left my NT more or less stock. I don't use the B&N Home screen or launcher for anything but have access to it and all B&N apps when needed. I have a 16GB SD card installed in mine and really don't feel the need to repartition and the procedure looks to be pretty involved and cumbersome so I haven't done that but I know it can be done.

Can one root just to get the full market play experience?

I bought my kids for Christmas two Nook Tablets for Xmas and read about the nabi after the fact.
Want kids to keep the BN stuff but be able to access more from the full play :) store.

I have no idea what the full play store is.

You don't root with a certain pastime in mind. You just root, period. Once rooted you can do whatever you want with it. It makes no difference what you want to eventually want to do with it, the root process is is pretty much the same regardless. You're just rooting; not rooting to do this or rooting to do that.
