Can Galaxy watch sync calendar with Exchange wirelessly (not going through phone)

I've got a specific use case for my next smartwatch. I want to be able to leave my phone in the car/home and have my watch still get calendar updates. My calendar changes throughout the day so i can't just sync once in the morning. I'm okay paying for LTE if wifi connectivity won't do what I need. My calendar is managed by Exchange so need ActiveSync support.

WearOS, Apple Watch can't do it, but maybe Galaxy can.

I've read about remote connection which sounds promising, but it's not clear if updates to my calendar will come via that option.
