Can I change the function of the capacitive buttons?

Specifically, the "multitask" button on the right. What I want to do, is to access multitasking by holding down the home button, and then I would like to remap the unused button to something better (menu, hopefully). Also, I'd like to double-tap home to open up something. Can I do any of this without a custom rom?

Search the market. I believe there is some packages that do that, but they might require root.

Double tap, I don't think so.

I unlocked and CleanRom 4.1 has them remapped. I like their setup. Long press Home for multitask and the multitask button gets mapped to Menu or Setting function. I dig.
