Can I delete the gmail app from my Samsung J1 Ace

The app takes so many MB in my 'small' new phone.
I have disabled/removed other apps.
This one I'm not too sure - Only because its gmail!
Any help/advice much appreciated

Check it but I'm pretty sure that you cannot remove it. I was able to disable it on my device but not until an update to marshmallow I believe. It may have been another app. Sorry but much of the carrier ware pre-installed on devices cannot be removed. Disabling it after clearing the cache and data will give you the most space possible tho.

Supposedly, pre-installed apps don't go into user available space. So uninstalling these apps gain you nothing. However, the data these apps store do go into user available space. So disabling the app, clearing it's data and cache, will stop it from using anymore of your memory. Just force stop it, and turn it off. Then clear data and cache.
