Assistance with Rooting an Acer A500 Tablet

I have been using my tablet with Square, but the update that they just did on it outdated my tablet. Can someone walk me through on how to root my tablet to a higher form of Android (there are no new updates for my tablet).

Rooting isn't going to a "higher form" of Android, it's adding the ability to do certain things on a system level. What you want is to update your tablet to a later version. [ROM][A500 & A501] Android 4.4.4 (OmniRO… | Acer Iconia A500 | XDA Forums will get you to KitKat 4.4.4. I don't think there's a Lollipop update yet.

(I'm assuming that you tried About device/Software update, and it didn't update the tablet. If you haven't, do that. Updating leaves everything there, flashing a new ROM means that you jhave to back everything up, install the new ROM, then restore everything.))
