Help on fixing Samsung GS3

I recently got a broken GS3 by someone else and I believe the digitizer is broken as everything but the screen works. When turning on the phone, there is a green bar at the top as well as some purple or green spreading out on the screen. I tested it on another GS3 (The board not the screen and digitizer) and the board was working properly, though the SIM card dock did not work. I want to ask for a proper tutorial on replacing the entire screen, perhaps a video? And also any recommendations for a replacement screen, preferably $5-60 if possible.

Broken LCD panel.

No, that's something you learn hands-on. Too hot and you damage the phone, not hot enough and you spend a day scraping semi-soft goo off the frame. (And probably break the screen taking it out, leaving little shards all over, which will eventually work their way all over the interior of the phone and destroy it.

And also any recommendations for a replacement screen, preferably $5-60 if possible.
Recommendation - bring the phone to a repair shop and pay to have the screen replaced. It's cheaper than buying a screen for $150 (or a Chinese screen that will give you problems for a little less), breaking a few things, buying parts to fix that, breaking more things ... and after 3 weeks having a sort of working phone. (At which point, no reputable shop will repair it, because the charge for finding all the problems you caused - before they start fixing anything - is about the price of a good used S3.)

A screen for $5? Not even in from repair shop, for a used screen taken out of a phone with a blown motherboard and a broken frame. The labor for taking the screen out of the old phone is more than that. For $65-$75, you can find a used screen, in decent condition if you believe the sellers. You'll usually have to take it off the frame yourself (and if you've never done it before you'll most likely break the screen a few times before you learn how to do it right, costing you about $300 in screens).

Oh, and if the SIM card port doesn't work, you'll need a new one (which is cheap, unless the problem is that the port is good and the motherboard is bad, in which case you'll need to replace the motherboard which runs about $100 used )

There's a reason people give non-working phones away - they got a repair estimate and figured it would be cheaper to buy a good used replacement.

Re: Help on fixing Samsung GS3

No, actually the person who gave the broken phone to me never got a repair estimate, he's my dad... Also, I understand that screens sold online are usually non-Super AMOLEDs so they're worse than the original screens (usually). I don't mind the problem with the SIM card port as I'm not using it as a phone and the $5 is just hopeful if anyone does sell screens for that low, I'm not stupid, a digitizer and a glass screen is expensive.... The entire reason I want to fix it is just for fun, to learn more on fixing or replacing the screen. So no repair shop for me, I'm only asking for a recommendation on a screen.
