Can I get some help with a Hangouts Keyboard Issue?

Hangouts Keyboard Issue

I have an M8 w/ Verizon & 5.0.1 and for the last couple months I've had an annoying issue with the keyboard not popping up in Hangouts, which is my default SMS app. For example, I can open Hangouts, tap a conversation, and read it, but if I tap in the field to type a message instead of opening the keyboard it returns me to the conversation list screen. If I'm at the contacts list if I tap the search field to find a contact it drops me back at the launcher. It's acting as if tapping in a field is really hitting the "back" button (only a bit laggier).

If I reboot it eventully comes back. Sometimes rather quickly. I normally use SwiftKey Keyboard, but if I switch to the HTC keyboard I get the same behavior. Other apps are fine including the "Messages" SMS app.

Any ideas?

Same issue with an AT&T one. Htc and AT&T have no idea. There is another thread on here talking about the same issues.

"Glad" to see others are having this issue too. Quite frustrating. Hopefully there will be a patch.

I had this issue the other day, I changed my keyboard back to stock, then to swiftkey, and then back to swiftkey beta which I normally run and havent had issue since.
