Steering control issue with my Turbo

I am having real issues with my Droid Turbo. I can pair the phone fine with bluethooth fine to Ford Sync and it plays audio fine. The steering controls work fine too until the phone locks or sleeps. I tried many different music apps and every setting in the screen and security settings. It works fine when I swipe the phone to click the button to wake it up it works fine. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm not having the problem. I have a 2014 Fusion and don't have any problems. Steering wheel controls work as expected in Google Music, Amazon Prime, and Pocket Casts.
