Can I just use the wifi on an LG Optimus Fuel Tracfone without having to activate it?

Hi, please help! Can I use just the wifi on the LG Optimus Fuel phone from Tracfone without activating it? For example, just to download some games for the kids? If so, how do I do it? I purchased the phones hoping to use it on a vacation in the US but it is quite expensive to activate! So, now instead of trying to return it, I was thinking I can use it just for games for the kids. Also, will it be ok to use it on wifi in Canada without activating it?

I purchased the phones hoping to use it on a vacation in the US but it is quite expensive to activate!

It should cost about $11 including tax for 30 minutes. You can call 1-800-867-7183 if you want to activate it. (I'm in the process of reactivating an old Tracfone for my grandson right now.)

It should work fine. Activate Airplane mode (so it doesn't keep complaining about not being activated), then turn Wifi on.

And if you're trying to activate it in Canada, it may be a lot more expensive than activating it in the US.

That's all to activate it? I called them and she quoted me almost $150 for this and that to activate a new phone!

I just finished activating my old phone. About US$9 (or $9.99 or something in the $9 range) plus local taxes, federal taxes and fees, brought it to US$11 - for 30 minutes of airtime. Activation itself was free. They have to send me a new SIM card because the old one's too old to reactivate (also free, but 3-5 business days wait).

Call them again and see if you get someone more intelligent than the phone they're using.
