Can I move from a Galaxy Grand Prime to a Galaxy S5 with just a MicroSIM swap?

Hi,

I'm upgrading to a Galaxy S8!

My plan was to give my wife my Galaxy S5, so she can "upgrade" to that from her Galaxy Grand Prime phone.

I understand both the Galaxy Grand Prime and the S5 use MicroSIMs. So, can I just wipe the S5 clean, pop in her Grand Prime's SIM card and let her carry on with the S5 as her phone without anything else to be done?

I own the S5 and it's been paid off and no longer under any contract. We're both Sprint users too. Both our phones have been on Sprint for their entire lifetime/contract.

So, same carrier, same manufacturer, same SIM card, the S5 is now paid off and off-contract... I'm assuming this will be relatively painless?

Or do I need to call Sprint and deactivate my S5 first? Or call for some sort of phone transfer thingy? I honestly have no clue if I need to do anything except wipe the S5 and swap out the SIMS.

Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but CDMA providers like Sprint may have to re-provision the phone to make the switch, so check with Sprint first. Also, when you give her the phone, make sure you do a proper factory reset, which means removing your Google account from the phone first (in Settings>Accounts), and then doing the factory reset. Then let her set the phone up like new with her account.
