can i override the block my galaxy5 has that is preventing me from charging the phone?

I have tried several chargers that we have, including the original cable. It keeps giving an error message saying that it isn't charging to protect the phone. Is there a way to override that so I can charge my phone? I've already taken out the battery to reset the phone and that didn't work.

Welcome to Android Central! Does it say anything else, like the battery is too hot or too cold?

Check the microUSB port--is there any debris in there?
