Can I recover files from encrypted internal storage after formatting?

I had an encrypted phone, which I flashed to upgrade the firmware. I made a backup of everything, but forgot the pictures. Is there a way to recover deleted encrypted files from the internal storage, if I know what the encryption password was? (Normal recovery software won't work)
