I am wondering because I have a few backup files saved and I'm starting to forget which is which. Would I be able to rename them when I connect my phone to my computer in the cwm backup folder?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. That is how I know which backup is which. I will name them with abbreviations of what is in the backup (ROM, kernel, modem, theme) and the date.

If you rename them from Windows, they may fail the md5 check when trying to restore them. I seem to recall having that problem a while back after I renamed my backup folders. But I've never had a problem renaming them right on the phone through ROM Manager.

Rom manager doesn't work with the samsung phones unfortunately. Landshark can you go into deep detail on how you rename your saved files? I would like to go into the backup folder on my desktop ( once the phone is plugged in ) and just left click on the mouse to rename the file. Is that how you do it?

No, you right click on the file name and choose rename from the pop up menu. And although rom manager does not work for the Fascinate in terms of flashing roms and recoveries, Chris is right you can still use it to rename your backups. I haven't used rom manager in months so I don't remember how to rename the backups using it. In fact, I don't even have rom manager on my phone anymore. If you want to rename the backups through windows, just navigate to the folder, right click on the backup and choose rename.

I rename the files in Windows just by left clicking the name 2 or 3 times, deleting what I don't want, and typing in the info. No problems here.
