My Galaxy Frontier S3 died (they're NOT as waterproof as you'd think). The S3 is no longer available so I bought an SM-R800. They look identical except SM-R800 is chrome, Frontier S3 is a nicer black. Can I swap the case - SM-R800 watch in a Frontier S3 case?

Mine was. Showered with it on regularly, even got in the pool with it. So either you messed with the integrity of the case, abused it while wearing it or you had a faulty one.
Do you have any experience swapping out electronic parts? Ever replaced the screen on a cellphone? Personally, I wouldn't recommend trying to swap cases. If you had issues with an original S3 not being waterproof, do you honestly think you can guarantee the case to be waterproof when you're done with it?
Have you looked on ebay or Amazon? I'd buy one used before I tried swapping cases, and I've repaired plenty of phones.
